Meet Loshini, Chef & Founder of Moodley’s Kitchen

Born and raised in the coastal city of Durban, South Africa, I come from a long line of strong women, generous cooks, and joyful storytellers. As a fourth-generation South African of Indian origin, my roots run deep—and so does my love for food.

My Story

I grew up in a big, bustling household where the kitchen was never quiet and never empty. Surrounded by my parents, grandparents, aunts, sibling and cousins, I learned early on that food was more than just fuel—it was love, culture, and connection all rolled into one. Our recipes were passed down through hands-on lessons, shared stories, and a little bit of intuition. No measuring cups, just memory. No timers, just trust.

Food was how we celebrated, how we showed up for one another, and how we honored the generations that came before us. Becoming a chef wasn’t part of the original plan—but with a childhood steeped in tradition, flavor, and family meals, it’s no surprise I found my way back to the kitchen.

My first career path took me from teaching economics and corporate training to over a decade leading teams in IT. But in 2013, something shifted—I felt a powerful pull back to the joy and creativity I’d always found in the kitchen growing up. So, while still working full-time in tech, I took a leap of faith and enrolled in culinary school in Las Vegas, ready to turn my passion into a new path.

Since then, I’ve worked as a Chef in the vibrant food scenes of Las Vegas and South Florida, soaking up flavors, sharpening my skills, and learning something new with every service. Today, I’m living my dream as a chef-instructor—teaching cooking and baking classes, leading hands-on workshops, running kids’ camps, and catering joyful events that bring people together.

Whether I’m guiding a beginner through their first risotto or watching a group of kids light up over cupcakes they made themselves, I’m in my element. My goal is to make cooking feel joyful, approachable, and full of heart—just like the kitchen I grew up in.When I’m not cooking, you’ll find me in my backyard herb garden, biking the neighborhood, playing tennis and pickleball, or volunteering in my community.

Moodley’s Kitchen is more than a business—it’s an extension of everything I grew up with: family, flavor, laughter, and a deep belief that some of life’s best moments happen around food.

What You Can Expect

At Moodley’s Kitchen, we keep things simple, flavorful, and full of heart.

We start with the basics—chopping an onion, kneading dough, tasting as we go—and build from there, one joyful bite at a time. Whether you’re brand new to cooking or have a well-worn recipe book at home, you’ll find a place here to explore, learn, and grow your kitchen confidence.

This is a cozy, welcoming space to play with new ingredients, master practical techniques, and discover bold flavors. From fun-filled kids’ camps and hands-on cooking classes to private sessions and catering for life’s most tastiest celebrations—we’ve always got something scrumptious cooking up.

You’ll learn real skills using real ingredients, in a kitchen where curiosity is encouraged and “mistakes” are just happy little detours. No pressure. No perfection. Just cooking with joy, baking with heart, and creating delicious memories along the way. So come as you are—apron on or not. Let’s stir, laugh, taste, and make something amazing together.
